All work is completed to manufacture specifications along with local road authorities specifications whether it is Alberta Transportation, local Municipality, or a private spec.
Lucas started in the road construction and maintenance industry in 2012 working for one of the maintenance contractors on the Anthony Henday. With the nature of the road maintenance in this area, he found a passion for running equipment and working outdoors. After working on the Anthony Henday, Lucas moved to the Red Deer area and worked as an equipment operator for one of the maintenance divisions for central Alberta on the Alberta Transportation owned roads.
After spending two years in the maintenance of roads it was time for a switch to the construction division. This opened up a lot of new opportunities including travel and becoming familiar with many different specificaitons for different scopes of work. Lucas had spent a total of 6 years with one of the largest infrastructure providers in the world installing roadside items and asphalt treaments such as traffic signs, various forms of crack seal, guardrail, high tension cable barrier and delineators.
In 2020 Lucas decided it was time to part ways and start his own business providing signage installation. Hence when our story really began. LUMO Construction was started. Our name was chosen while discussing options for the future and how we wanted to proceed. Many people do not know this, but the LU in LUMO is the first two letters of Lucas' first name, and the MO the first two letters of his last name. Our first full season we didn't realize just how busy we would be, it gave us hope as we were still in the middle of the COVID 19 pandemic. In this time LUMO Construction's relationship with its venders grew significantly, and we were provided an opportunity that would change the direction of LUMO Construction significantly. We were provided the opportunity to work on our first Amazon Canada project, installing all of the traffic signs for one of their new wearhouses. This project took two full seasons, and strengthened our relationship with our vender who is now our top customer too! It set the course and a future path that we are excited for and gave LUMO Construction significant foothold in the Parking Lot industry.
